The members of First Baptist Church voted to call Dr. Hearon as Pastor at the close of the Sunday morning service, October 28, 2007. He had been serving as Interim Pastor at FBC since April 22, 2007. Dr. Hearon retired as Executive Director of the Dallas Baptist Association in September 2006. He had served in that capacity for 21 years. A native of Rock Hill, South Carolina, Dr. Hearon answered the call to preach at the age of 16. He earned degrees from Baylor University and Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary; and he was also honored in 1985 with an honorary doctorate from Dallas Baptist University. He had 24 years experience as a Pastor before going to DBA, serving churches in North Carolina and Texas. He is married to the former Paula Jensen of Littlefield, Texas. The Hearons have three children and five grandchildren. Dr. Hearon began his full-time ministry with FBC on December 1, 2007.
